CDK Global Cyberattack: Auto Dealers Nationwide Impacted

Ongoing Software Outage Forces Some to Revert to Manual Paperwork

A cyber attack at CDK Global has led to a nationwide shutdown of computer systems at auto dealers, causing widespread disruption to the car industry. The company said it will likely take several days for its software to be back online and operational.

Dealers Grapple with Outage

Auto dealers across the country are struggling to cope with the ongoing software outage caused by the cyber attack. Some have been forced to revert to manual paperwork to process sales and service appointments, while others have had to shut down operations altogether.

The outage began on June 19th when CDK Global, a major provider of software to auto dealers, was hit by a ransomware attack. The attack caused widespread outages to CDK's dealership customers, disrupting their ability to access inventory, process transactions, and communicate with customers.

CDK Global has said that it is working to restore its systems as quickly as possible, but has not provided a specific timeline for when they will be back online. In the meantime, auto dealers are being advised to prepare for extended disruptions and to consider implementing contingency plans.
